Ham-Succatash Soup

Makes 2 quarts, or 4 to 6 servings.

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons butter or margarine
2 medium onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
1 bay leaf
1/4 cup chopped celery leaves or 1 tablespoon dried celery leaves
2 cups finely diced ham
1 can (1 pound) cream-style corn
1 can (1 pound) green lima beans, undrained
1 tall can evaporated milk
Salt and pepper

Directions:
Melt butter in kettle. Add next 4 ingredients and cook about 5 minutes. Add potato, ham, and 2 cups water. Bring to boil, cover and simmer 15 minutes, or until potato is tender. Add vegetables, mil, and salt and pepper to taste. Heat well.
