Ham, Celery and Cheese Strata
Ingredients
- 2 cups celery in 1/2″ slices
- Salt
- 8 slices, firm-type bread, crusts trimmed
- 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
- 2 cups finely diced Chicagoland Ham
- 4 eggs, slightly beaten
- 2 cups milk
- 2 tablespoons minced onion
- 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
Instructions
- Cook celery in small amount of boiling salted water 8 to 10 minutes; drain.
- Cut a 2″ round from each slice of bread. Crumble remainder in shallow 1 1/2-quart baking dish and sprinkle with the cheese.
- Cover with celery, then Chicagoland Ham and top with bread circles.
- Mix remaining ingredients and pour on top.
- Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
- Then bake in moderate oven (350°F) 1 hour, or until firm and lightly browned.
